Дело не сводилось к одной лишь идеологизированной критике евроцентризма. Так, например, в русле мировой тенденции критического осмысления и анализа сформированного корпуса «классических» этнографических трудов оказалась и вышедшая в 1978 г. «История зарубежной этнографии» С.А. Токарева. В том же 1978 г. увидела свет и вышедшая под редакцией Х. М. Классена и П. Скальника влиятельная работа международного коллектива авторов (в которой приняли участие африканисты Ю.М. Кобищанов и Н.Б. Кочакова) – «Раннее государство». В ней выдвижению теории раннего государства предшествует разбор теорий возникновения государства и начального периода его существования, начиная с «теории общественного договора» Руссо; в частности подробно анализируются с привлечением данных и выводов современной социальной антропологии воззрения Ф.
