В статье представлены результаты историографического обзора зарубежной научной литературы о природе исламизма в XXI в. Немаловажную роль в зарубежном дискурсе нынешнего столетия сыграла проработка радикальной составляющей в исламизме, которая имеет различные модификации и оттенки. Помимо изучения радикализма и анализа социальной базы исламизма, особое внимание уделяется его политическим особенностям и определению. События «арабской весны» привели к рассуждениям об очередном «закате исламизма». По мнению ряда зарубежных ученых, исламизм не сумел в кратчайшие сроки достичь главной цели – построения исламского государства и подвергся пересмотру, в результате чего возникли более либеральные постисламистские идеи. Наблюдается попытка систематизации накопленных знаний об исламистской идеологии.
