Abstract:
The article examines the peculiarities of the investment climate and legal regulation of investment activities in South Africa. The author investigates the macroeconomic factors of the investment attractiveness of the country, special aspects of legal regulations and the overall entrepreneurial climate of South Africa with the focus on the developments of the recent years, in order to identify the causes of the dramatic decline in the investment activities in 2015. The article demonstrates the negative impact that has been made on the investment climate by South Africa’s dependency on the prices on raw minerals, the political instability of the recent years and the adoption of the controversial Protection of Investment Act. The last part of the article enumerates measures to be taken by the new South African government in order to improve the investment climate in South Africa.
