China and the problem of terrorism threat in African countries

Author:

Tatiana Deych

Abstract:

The paper discusses the threat to Chinese companies, acting in Africa, from conflicts and terrorism on the continent. China is adherent to the doctrine of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries; however, it forced to take measures to protect its citizens, business, and financial investments abroad. Beijing is responding to the terrorist threat by the modernization of security forces and counter-terrorism legislation. Counter-terrorism became a part of the Sino-African dialogue on the summits and conferences of the Forum on China-Africa cooperation (FOCAC). The author puts the task to analyze the new tendencies in the policy of Beijing, which doesn’t want to interfere in armed conflicts, but at the same time tends to act as a mediator in resolving conflict and crisis situations.
