The Editorial policy of the ‘Journal of the Institute for African Studies” is aimed at maintaining a high academic reputation of the Journal and ensuring the quality of scientific publications. In its work, the Editorial Office of the Journal takes into account the experience of leading Russian and international journals and publishers in the social sciences.

The editors of the Journal consider the Data Replication Policy to be an important element of scientific ethics. In this regard, the necessary conditions are created so that the calculations performed by the authors of the article could be replicated (reproduced) by the readers of the Journal.

Authors of articles containing calculations may be requested to provide the raw data related to the manuscript for review. Authors should be ready to provide open access to this information and store this data for an appropriate period of time after publication.

When publishing articles in the ‘Journal of the Institute for African Studies’, both permanent and ad hoc databases are welcomed, the results of which are interpreted in the articles. As a repository, authors are recommended to use a specialized section of the portal of the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences (https://data.inafran.ru), created for hosting databases on African topics. At the same time, it is possible to host databases on other repositories at the discretion of the author.
