Abstract:
After the collapse of the USSR, a number of specific Eastern societies appeared in the post-Soviet space, which are still in search of their identities. The author looks at the efforts by those societies to introduce and spread Islamic finance in the post-Soviet space as a form of search for their new post-Soviet identity. The author believes that in the Islamic finance acquired in the region practically no real economic meaning and was unable to become a development instrument.
