Abstract:
The article States that the trade Union movement in South Africa is one of the most active and organised on the continent. The trade unions played a key role in the anti-apartheid movement, the labour movement was a major factor in the strengthening of the political positions and the victory of the African national Congress (ANC). The Congress of South African trade unions is a part of the ruling Alliance together with the Communist party and the ANC. The author stresses that the trade unions in the country has for several decades been an influential social and political force, having achieved notable success in the struggle for the interests of different categories of workers and employees.
